Forgiveness is so difficult for us because even when we want to forgive, we want to be able to do it, and move on.
When in reality, we see that bitterness, anger, and hurt often come creeping back in.
Why is that? Why can’t we just say, “I forgive”? The end.
I think it’s like one of my favorite songs says, “Lord, I need You, Oh, I need You. Every hour I need You.”
We need God to help us do hard things. Not just in a moment, but over and over again.
We might sincerely want to forgive and think that we have. But then tomorrow comes, and we realize we need to forgive again. Even when we really want to forgive.
But the Bible says, “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” Mark 14:38
We need God in order to keep forgiving others; to keep loving others; to keep doing what is right. He created us knowing that our flesh is weak.
He wants us to humble ourselves and come to Him for the strength that only He can give.
If you’re struggling to forgive or love someone, it doesn’t mean you’re failing. “When I cannot stand I’ll fall on You Jesus, You’re my hope and stay.”
It’s just an opportunity for you to allow God to reveal His strength to you. Every day. Every hour.
He is our strength. Psalm 28:7
“My one defense, my righteousness, Oh God, how I need You.”
