I was reading in John, Chapter 7 and verse 30 stuck out to me.
“Then the leaders tried to arrest him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.”
And I thought to myself…
Why couldn’t they get their hands on him?
How could he have escaped if they were trying to arrest him?
Then, I read in John 8, verse 20,
“Jesus made these statements while he was teaching in the section of the Temple known as the Treasury. But he was not arrested, because his time had not yet come.”
Again, I thought to myself, why didn’t they arrest him?
I guess I wanted to know how he was escaping them.
Then, in the last verse of John 8, it says, “At that point they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus was hidden from them and left the Temple.”John 8:59
So we know, at least in this instance, Jesus was hidden from them.
Then I realized…
It doesn’t matter how Jesus was able to keep from getting arrested or stoned when all these people wanted so badly to get their hands on him; what matters is that they couldn’t.
Because it wasn’t time.
Because God wouldn’t allow it.
There was nothing in the world that they could’ve done to get to Jesus, unless God allowed it.
And I believe this applies to us too.
Sometimes we’re afraid to do what God wants us to do.
Sometimes we don’t think we are qualified to do what God wants us to do.
Sometimes we think our enemies have us surrounded and there’s no way we can do what God wants us to do.
But if you’re seeking to fulfill God’s purpose for your life, God isn’t going to let anything stop you.
We might not know how.
But we know He will.
God’s purpose will prevail.
For you.
For me.
