Cast The Line

I often think to myself that I’m not good at witnessing or telling people about Jesus.

I often tell myself it’s just my shy, quiet personality that keeps me from telling people about Jesus.

But today, I was convicted.

Today, a question pierced me that I asked myself.

How many times have I prayed for God to give me opportunities to tell others about Jesus?

Once? Twice?

I’m sure I have.

But it’s definitely not something I do regularly.

Definitely not daily.

And I felt so completely convicted.

Some of the last words Jesus spoke was to go and make disciples of all nations; and to go and preach the gospel to all creation.

Yet, rarely if ever, do I pray and ask God to help me see opportunities, and help me have the courage to act when opportunities arise.

Friends, what’s more important than telling others about the hope we have in Jesus?

Nothing.

It may not seem important when everything in your life is going how you think it should.

When you and your family are healthy.

Your job is good.

Your home is good.

Your relationships are good.

But what happens when tragedy strikes?

Or the diagnosis comes?

And your world is turned upside down.

Our only hope is Jesus.

And while your life might be going good, there are people around you who are hurting.

People who need hope.

People who need to know Jesus.

Maybe we all need to feel convicted to do better.

Maybe we should all pray God would open our eyes to opportunities to tell people about Jesus.

And pray for Him to help us when opportunities arise.

To catch a fish, you must cast the line. You must take action.

We can’t hardly be fishers of men if we don’t take action.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. I John 5:14-15
