Zacchaeus didn’t need to climb the tree for Jesus to see him.
He needed to climb the tree so he could see Jesus.
There’s a difference.
Jesus is always there.
He sees you and me.
He knew the exact woman who had faith in him when the crowds were pressing against him.
He knew the life of the woman at the well. And He knows every detail of our lives.
But Zacchaeus desired to see Jesus.
There were obstacles in his way so he had to do whatever he could to see Jesus.
For Zacchaeus, it was a crowd of people.
For us, it could be sports, money, a job, hanging out with the wrong people, social media, etc….
If we want to see Jesus, we need to be willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.
Get up early.
Stop going certain places.
Fix relationships.
Get rid of distractions.
And the list can go on and on.
Do whatever it takes to see Jesus.
When Jesus saw Zacchaeus, he told him he was going to his house.
When we seek Jesus, he will draw near to us too.
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. James 4:8
