Since we’ve listed our house for sale, it’s made me believe we are at least doing something right.

With teenagers, sometimes I worry they are too caught up in materialistic things.

And younger kids always want the latest and greatest toys.

But since we decided to put our house for sale, it has really showed me how truly content our kids are.

Our house isn’t the biggest, or newest.

It’s not the cleanest or most up-to-date. But our house isn’t just a house- it’s a home.

Where memories are made.

Where Christmas mornings happen.

Where we cook and eat meals together.

Where footballs are thrown, and the Xbox is played.

Where bonfires are built.

Where homemade ice cream is made.

Where we laugh and cry together.

Where.our.life.happens.

And new could be nice.

Yes, bigger would be great.

But being able to be content where you are is a far greater gift than a new house. And it’s a feeling that money can’t buy.

I’m amazed how happy our kids are right where they are.

I’m shocked that the idea of a brand new house doesn’t excite them all that much.

I’m sure we mess up a lot in this parenting thing, but this makes me think we must be doing something right.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 1 Timothy 6:6-8
