On Fridays, I’m off with my baby boy. I love Fridays, and getting to spend time with him, getting extra one-on-one lovin’. But today was different because we were watching his friend and her little brother also.
Taking care of two three year olds and a 17 month old will keep you on your toes for sure!
Cam had a great time playing with his friend, and I got to soak up some time with the baby.
It’s been a busy, but fun day! I’m convinced that no one has more fun than three year olds!
Miraculously, they all went down for a nap at the same time, without any struggle. As I sit here (in peace and quiet) I think about how blessed I am; blessed to be able to spend time with them; blessed to be healthy enough to take care of them; blessed to have friends who trust me enough to watch them; blessed to have the memories of my three older girls playing like my son has played today; just completely blessed.
I’m thankful for the four children that God has given me. I’m thankful for our sponsored child on the other side of the world in the Philippines. And I’m thankful when I get to spend time playing and taking care of them.
Yes, I’m happy when they sleep.
No, I’m not sad when it’s nap time.
But children are a precious gift. They naturally bring love, laughter, and joy to a room. They each have a unique purpose given to them by God.
Sometimes it’s easy to think that staying home and taking care of kids is not serving a bigger purpose. But Colossians 3:12 says, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
All of these attributes come to mind when I think of taking care of kids. Colossians goes on to say to put on love which binds all of these attributes together, and to be thankful.
This is for the tired mom cleaning up ANOTHER spilled drink, the sad mom bouncing an inconsolable baby, the overwhelmed mom trying to do it all…what you’re doing MATTERS. What you’re doing can bring glory to God.
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
