While talking with my daughter last night, she said something to the effect of, “When I’m an adult, I will do that.”
We weren’t talking about something that she couldn’t do now because she was a kid. Instead, she was using “her, being a kid” as an excuse not to make the best decision in this instance.
This led to talking about an important truth we all need to remember.
Our lives don’t start at some point in the future.
Not when we’re 18 or 21.
Not when we get married or have children.
Not when we get our dream job.
Once we accept Jesus, our lives truly begin.
We need to start living now.
Each day we need to live and breathe goodness, kindness, and love.
We don’t need to make excuses for not doing what we know we should be doing.
Whether you believe it or not, you are impacting the people around you.
What kind of impression do you want to leave?
How are you making this world better?
Your life, no matter your age, is not insignificant. You have purpose when you are 5, 15, 45, or 95.
For youth (and for us all), 2 Timothy 4:12 tells us, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
Some people don’t make it to see 21.
Some don’t see 50.
Some don’t see 80.
So, what can you do, right now, right where you are to bring glory to God?
This is the question we all need to ask ourselves.
Because our lives and our purpose have already begun.
