I’m sure you’ve often seen or heard things and asked yourself, “What is this world coming to?”
I did today.
The question in my mind was, “How are my kids going to deal with the world they’re going to have to grow up in and live in?”
But before I even completely questioned it in my head, God answered me.
“They’ll be fine.”
They’ll be better than fine. Because it doesn’t matter what is going on in this world.
It doesn’t matter how many people choose the wrong road;
how many people make wrong decisions.
It doesn’t matter what society says is right.
It doesn’t matter if good becomes bad,
bad becomes good,
up becomes down,
or left becomes right.
As long as…
They follow God.
God will never leave or forsake them.
God will never lead them down the wrong path.
God’s Word is clear.
He will give them wisdom.
We don’t have to worry about our kids and what the world is going to look like for them.
Because God has their days planned just like He has ours.
God assures us that, “Righteousness guards the person of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.”
Proverbs 13:6
God assures us that, “The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death.”
Proverbs 13:14
We don’t have to worry about our kids’ future.
We just need to continue teaching them about Jesus.
I’ve read Proverbs 13:22 many times, but tonight it had new meaning for me.
The first part says, “Good people leave an inheritance to their grandchildren.”
The inheritance isn’t about money.
The value, the REAL inheritance is a life lived for Jesus.
Showing them what it looks like to pray,
read and study His Word,
serve and love others,
endure suffering,
find peace that passes understanding,
and faithfully follow even when the going gets tough.
Teaching them that a relationship with Him is the most important thing in their lives.
In Hebrews 12 it says, “And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus.”
Just as we are trying to live out the life God planned for us, our children will have wisdom and perseverance to run their own race if they keep Jesus as Lord of their lives.
Our kids can do it because they won’t be doing it alone.
“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
Luke 1:37
