Dry Ground

Why is dry ground important?

Three times in Exodus 14 the Bible tells us the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.

The Bible could’ve just said they walked through the sea.

The Israelites probably would’ve been ok with walking through the sea and the path being a little muddy. No one probably would’ve thought much about it. After all, God separated the sea. They probably would’ve expected it to be at least damp.

But by mentioning it three times in Exodus, God wanted to make a point that they walked on dry ground.

We’re often satisfied with convenience.

If we’re needing something and find a convenient way to get it, we’re probably going to go that way.

The Israelites would’ve probably been satisfied just escaping from the Egyptians even if that meant wading through water or a muddy path.

But it was dry ground.

God’s way was the best way.

God’s way was perfect care.

Perfect protection.

Perfect help.

And a perfect plan.

Let the dry ground encourage you when God is calling you to do something hard or scary.

No matter what it feels like, when you are faithfully following Him you will be walking on dry ground. You can trust in his perfect plan for you. A plan better than anything you can imagine for yourself.
