It’s easy to read verses about the blessings of God; verses about peace, answered prayers, and safety.
But when you run into a verse that convicts your heart, how do you respond?
“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me;
anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.” Matthew 10:37-38
God isn’t telling us we shouldn’t love our families, but He does want us to love Him above everyone and everything else.
I read over these verses, and not once, not twice, but three times, He ends with “is not worthy of me.”
Gosh, I want to be worthy. I want to bring glory to Him. I want to follow Him because of all He has done for me.
Lord, help me to realign my priorities with You being at the top.
Because when I seek You first, I will be able to love my family better.
When I seek You first, I will have Godly wisdom to care for my loved ones better.
When I seek You first, I will realize that love comes with a price. And you paid the ultimate price for us.
Help me, Lord, to be worthy.
