It’s easy isn’t?
To let our thoughts go to all the evil things going on the world.
To be scared for the future of our children.
Everything seems so volatile.
Almost as if we wake up and we’re afraid of what the day may bring.
It’s completely human to be worried.
But God doesn’t want us to live in fear.
I’ve been muddling through the books of Kings and Chronicles. And sometimes it seems like I’m reading the same thing over and over again.
The names start running together. And it’s hard to keep straight which kings did what.
But today, as I was praying for God to protect us, to heal our world, and to help us not be afraid, He reminded me that He is always in control.
I may not be able to tell you all the names of the kings, but I can tell you a major theme is that many “did evil in the eyes of the Lord.”
But it didn’t matter who was king or what they did, God was always in control. God’s plan was always being fulfilled. God never worried or wondered what was going to happen next.
His plan was in place then, and it’s in place now.
We are one day closer to Jesus coming back.
One day closer to Him making everything new.
No pain. No sorrow.
With Him forever.
I feel like it could be soon.
And yes, what peace, what comfort, and what excitement that brings.
Except for those who don’t have a relationship with Jesus. Maybe it’s family. Or friends. Maybe it’s strangers we’ve never met.
It doesn’t matter who they are, if we love like Jesus we should have a burden in our hearts for them to be saved.
The Bible says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
While we still have time, let’s tell everyone about Jesus.
People are worried. People are scared. People are looking for hope.
And we have it.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.” 1 Peter 1:3-4
