It’s Time To Stop Comparing

It’s time to stop comparing.

We have to stop comparing ourselves to one another.

We have to stop looking at that person over there and wishing we were more like them.

We have to stop trying to look or act like others because we think that’s what will make us happy.

We have to stop.

No one can use your gifts and talents more effectively than you can.

God created both you and me to do good works. Ephesians 2:10

But while we have the same purpose, He didn’t give us the same gifts to accomplish our purpose.

Maybe your talent is singing.

Of course many people have that same talent. Some who are famous. Some with millions of fans.

Guess what? None of that makes them more effective in bringing God glory than you.

Just because you can outwardly see the success of some, this doesn’t mean that what you are doing isn’t equally, if not more successful.

Our success, our purpose is found in Christ.

When you wish to be more like this person or that one, you are telling God that He didn’t do a good enough job when He created you.

Is this true? Are we not good enough just the way we are?

Psalm 139:14 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

You are wonderfully made. His works are wonderful.

You were given gifts and talents to bring glory to God, and to help others to know Him.

You don’t need recognition. You don’t need fame. You don’t need praise.

Do it humbly for the God who created you and loves you;  because, “He crowns the humble with victory.” Psalm 149:4

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”‭‭ Romans‬ ‭12:6-8‬ ‭

Use your gifts “so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11
