Journey

There are times in our lives God commands us to move and times He commands us to be still.

Sometimes it’s hard to be patient when you’ve been waiting for a long time.

Sometimes it’s hard to keep moving when you’ve been on the go for a long time.

But if we follow what God commands each one of us, He will help us in the waiting and in the going.

Sometimes I read stories in the Old Testament and I just can’t understand how they apply to me today.

But I know it’s not because they don’t have a purpose or aren’t relative.

I know it’s because of my lack of wisdom and understanding. It could be a lack of being still or focus. Or it might not be the right time for me to understand these verses.

Other times, God allows us to see how these stories can help us even today.

The Israelites were commanded by God through Moses to camp when a cloud rested over the tabernacle.

When God lifted the cloud they were commanded to journey.

Simple enough.

Here’s the part that got my attention today:

“Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey.” Numbers 9:22

We get impatient wanting God to answer our prayers and give us direction.

We might be willing to wait a couple of days or even a month. But what about a year?

God is so good that He includes details to encourage us.

To guide us. And to help us.

He could’ve left out how long they waited.

But He didn’t.

Keep looking for God to guide you and direct you.

He’s there.

Even in the waiting.
