Out Of The Whirlwind

Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind… Job 38:1

Why in this account did the Lord answer Job out of the whirlwind?

Why did the whirlwind part need to be included?

Why doesn’t the Bible just tell us the Lord answered Job?

I looked up what others thought the whirlwind represented.

The most popular opinion was the whirlwind demonstrated to Job God’s mighty power.

Some even said to demonstrate God’s fury and anger.

And maybe both are true?

But as I read that passage and thought about it, what came to my mind had to do more with the loving nature of our God.

Above all, God is kind and compassionate. He loves us more than we can ever imagine.

And out of the whirlwind, He answered Job.

Job had disaster after disaster, tragedy after tragedy, and an overwhelming amount of sickness and pain, so much so they were like a whirlwind around him.

And out of the whirlwind, in the midst of all his troubles, God answered him.

To me, “out of the whirlwind” is a sign of hope.

God is with us when troubles are swirling around us.

Even when it seems like he’s far away or silent for longer than we want, He is there with us.

“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”Deuteronomy 31:8

And He will answer us out of the whirlwind going on in our lives.

Because God answered Job out of the whirlwind, we can have faith God will do the same for us.
