We are all waiting on something.
It might be a relationship, a child, a job, a lost loved one, a clear direction, or countless other things.
It’s easy to get angry or jealous, sad or scared, or just feel completely lost when we’re waiting.
But there is purpose in your waiting.
And that purpose is to strengthen you and draw you closer to God.
If God gave us everything when we wanted it, how would we learn patience?
Yet, the Bible says, “Better a patient person than a warrior.” Proverbs 16:32
Psalm 37:7 says, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.”
When we practice patience, we are being obedient to God. And “obedience is better than sacrifice.” 1 Samuel 15:22
Being patient doesn’t mean doing nothing.
It means praying without ceasing.
It means studying scripture, and hiding it in your heart.
It means continually praising God even when it’s hard.
It means loving and serving others throughout your day, trusting God will help and strengthen you.
Truthfully, there’s A LOT to do while you’re waiting, in order to wait well.
He promises us good things. 2 Samuel 7:28
He wants to give us good things. Matthew 7:11
We will be rewarded if we do what He asks us to do, and trust in Him.
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.” Psalms 37:5-6
