Serving

I looked and saw my kids waiting in the back while I practiced with the choir after church Wednesday night.

It’s a common scene. A scene that my older daughters were also familiar with when they were their younger siblings’ age.

Serving in the church.

I could tell you many lies about serving in the church.

Like,

People will never judge you for spending so much time there.

You will never feel guilty sacrificing time with your family for serving.

People will never look at you differently or act differently around you.

You will never get tired or burned out of serving.

People will never get on your nerves.

You will never be overwhelmed.

People will never take advantage of you.

You will never have a bad attitude and lose your joy while serving.

Instead, if you serve long enough, you will probably experience all these things.

But the truth about serving is this…

It’s worth it all.

All the hard times.

Because when you serve God with your gifts and talents, your life will be blessed.

God will be glorified, and you will be blessed.

The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:38
