Friends, let me help you today.
Are you overwhelmed by the many things on your to-do list?
Are you tired?
Are you feeling defeated?
If so, keep reading.
So many times I’ve heard and read the story of the woman who poured the jar of perfume on Jesus before He was crucified.
But as I read this story again today, these words seemed to jump off of the page:
“She did what she could.”
Mark 14:8-9 says, “She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
What a statement!
Do you think the woman ever imagined that what she did would be told wherever the gospel was preached?
That just by doing what she could, she would be remembered throughout history?
I’m sure this wasn’t her motive.
Instead, I believe she was focused on how she could show love to Jesus.
Now, think about where you are friends.
Jesus said, “She did what she could.”
Be encouraged knowing that you don’t have to do everything. You don’t have to be everything. You don’t have to serve everywhere.
You just have to do what you can.
Don’t try to do what you can’t do. Just do what you can.
God will see you. God will bless you.
Your purpose is to love God.
Your purpose is to love people.
Love doesn’t require money.
Love can be a prayer.
Love can be a note.
Love can be a compliment.
Love can be listening.
Love can be lending a hand.
Love can be so much more.
If you’re struggling, tired, stressed, or feeling defeated, do what you can.
Remember who and what is truly important and worthy of your time.
My prayer is to be like this woman who was showing her love for Jesus.
I want God to be able to say of me, “She did what she could.”
