The house we’re living in is our temporary home while we build.
So it’s ok that our closet space is minimal.
It’s ok that things are a little cramped.
It’s ok that our furniture doesn’t match and every room isn’t decorated.
It’s ok that some things are inconvenient now.
Because I know we’re in a temporary home.
Things that would’ve mattered in our old house don’t matter to me here.
Because I know our time here is limited.
And I thought to myself…
What if we had this mindset about our time here in this life?
That this life is temporary.
Our time here is limited.
We aren’t staying here for long.
What things wouldn’t matter anymore?
Would we care about what we wore?
Would we care about how perfect the house looked?
Would we care about how much wealth we’ve accumulated?
Would we care about all the awards and recognition we’ve received?
Would we care about who won the game?
Would we care about getting back at someone?
Or would we choose to make the most of the little time we have?
Would we choose to spend more time with our friends and family?
Would we put the phones down?
Would we pray more?
Would we read the Bible more?
Would we serve others more?
Would we truly see the people around us and care about their needs?
Would we choose to focus on love?
Lord, help me have a temporary view of this time on Earth.
So I can see what is really important.
So I can focus on telling others about you.
So I can do Your will.
And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2:17
