My 8 year old had a lot of questions about the upcoming eclipse today. I could tell he was nervous and uncertain about what was going to happen.
He wanted to know if it was going to be completely dark and for how long.
After assuring him it was going to be ok, I thought about the darkness that came when Jesus hung on the cross.
Mark 15:33 says, “At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.”
I can’t imagine how frightened and confused the people were during this time.
I would think it would’ve convinced many that Jesus really was the Son of God.
But I can only imagine how terrified everyone must have been.
Darkness over the whole land for three hours in the middle of the day.
But thank God we have Jesus!
We have The Light!
I could confidently reassure my son everything was going to be ok today.
Because I know no matter what we face in this life; no matter what darkness comes in; broken relationships, depression, sickness, death, and every other dark and scary thing…We always have Light.
We always have Jesus.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
