How many times throughout our day do we worry and try to figure things out on our own?
Look at this convicting passage from Isaiah where the Lord is warning the people about their actions.
““Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin; Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice, To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt!” Isaiah 30:1-2
What really stuck out to me when I read this was “And have not asked My advice.”
He warns them that they are adding sin to sin by not seeking Him. By trying to figure out everything on their own.
How guilty are we of doing the same thing?
God wants us to come to him with the big things, but also with the every-day, little things in our lives.
He doesn’t want to just be our emergency call.
He wants a committed relationship.
He wants us to talk to him throughout our day.
He wants us to ask him for advice.
That’s why the Bible says pray about everything.
And to pray without ceasing.
Because when we pray, we have a direct line to God.
Give today to God.
Ask him to guide and direct you.
If something comes up today and you’re not sure what to do, pray for God to show you which way to go.
In the same chapter of Isaiah, God displays grace to his children.
“Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:18, 21
