This Is What Pressing On Looks Like

My pappaw went with us to Chuck E. Cheese the other day.

This is a picture of us pressing on.

Pressing on after losing his wife of 62 years.

Pressing on in the midst of a pandemic.

Pressing on when it’s unfamiliar.

Pressing on when it’s uncomfortable.

I want to encourage you that no matter what you are facing today, choose to press on.

This year has been tough.

But even without Covid, life can be tough.

Death, heartbreak, sickness, broken relationships, financial struggles; this.world.is.HARD.

It’s hard for everyone.

But it’s how we choose to react in hard times that reveals who we are.

We aren’t called to give up.

We are called to endure it.

We are called to strain toward the prize.

We are called to press on.

Enduring, straining, pressing on- all of these words indicate God wants to prepare us for the struggles that He knew we would have.

He told us, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Hebrews 12:1 says, “Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

Friends, our goal is to be with God in Heaven.

And to get there, we must endure everything that comes with this world.

The good news is that we don’t have to do it alone.

Press on.

“Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭3:12-14
