I always thought Adam blamed Eve for eating the fruit in the Garden of Eden.
But God revealed to me something new as I read these same verses a few days ago.
The Bible says God asked Adam,
“Have you eaten from the tree
whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?”
The man replied,
“It was the woman
you gave me who gave me the fruit,
and I ate it.”
Genesis 3:11-12
Did you catch that?
“The woman YOU gave me…”
Adam was actually blaming God for his sin.
The first human in all God’s creation, blamed God.
I’ve been thinking about this for a few days.
Thinking about what we can learn from this.
And I’m sure there are so many things but what stands out to me is Love.
God didn’t have to create us.
He wanted to create us.
He wanted a relationship with us.
He knew our sinful nature.
He saw it firsthand in the first of His creation.
And He still chose us.
He still chose to love us.
Knowing every, single thing we would do wrong- and He still loves us.
There’s nothing you’ve done or will ever do that will keep God from loving you.
He’s waiting for you to come to Him.
He’s waiting for you to repent,
recognize your need for Him,
and find salvation in Christ Jesus.
Because He loves you
with a love that is unlike anything
you can imagine.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:18-19
