I don’t know about you, but a lot of times I feel like God is probably looking at me and shaking his head.
About the choices I make.
About how I treat people.
About how I spend my time.
I mean, I know God loves me. With a love like unlike any other.
But I don’t usually feel like I’m doing all that great a job of loving and serving Him like I should.
I relate to Paul when he talks about doing the things he knows he shouldn’t do, and not doing the things he knows he should do.
So when I heard this verse today, it caught my attention.
“My child, if your heart is wise,
my own heart will rejoice!
Everything in me
will celebrate
when you speak what is right.”
Proverbs 23:15-16
Wow! You want to please God?
Get wisdom.
You want to please God?
Speak what is right!
The Bible says when we speak what is right, our Lord’s heart rejoices and everything within Him celebrates!
What a thought that we could bring that kind of joy to the Savior of the world!
But how do we get wise hearts?
How do we speak what’s right?
Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
Psalms 111:10 expands on this and says, “all who follow His precepts gain rich understanding.”
“…. With humility comes wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2
And if you need wisdom James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
If you want to please the Lord, it’s not a matter of getting it all right.
He knows us.
He knows we’re gonna mess up.
He know our weaknesses.
But if we will pray, read His word, commit our lives to following His Word, be humble, and ask for wisdom, He WILL give it to us!
And as we get wisdom from Christ, He celebrates and rejoices!
