Finding Joy

“Anyone can buy or build a house; it takes God to put joy in it.” Phylicia Masonheimer

None can bring you true joy.

Because joy isn’t found in attaining material things.

Joy is a product of having Jesus.

Joy isn’t dependent on your circumstances.

Joy is dependent on your relationship with Christ.

We are building a house.

It’s exciting.

It’s fun.

But it’s not the source of my joy.

Today, we had our parents there showing them around the building site. We’re still many months away from being anywhere close to having it finished.

As I tucked my two youngest in bed tonight, they talked about how they had fun having their grandparents there and how we were going to have many more visits like that when the house was finished.

But we’re not going to wait until this house is finished to be joyful.

We’re going to be joyful wherever we are.

We are going to find joy in the present.

We can have joy whether we’re on Walking Horse Lane, up on the hill with critters and strange sounds of an old house, or in a new house.

Joy can be found when Jesus is present.

Maybe you’re waiting on some event you think will bring you joy,

Maybe you’ve reached your goals only to realize something is still missing,

Maybe you just don’t think it’s possible for you to have joy.

But Jesus is the source of joy.

Seek Him and you will find joy.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13

But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves. John 17:13
