Come Near To Me

My usual Friday off with my kids consists of coffee, snuggling, playing, maybe a little laundry thrown in, and many times a big nap with my little boy.

But yesterday was one of those days; days where a million things that needed to be done plagued my mind.

We had places to go, people to see, things that needed purchased…just a lot to get done.

I spent most of the morning getting things ready for our trip. That afternoon, my two oldest daughters and I had to run a few errands. With each place we went, I grew more overwhelmed with all that we had to get done.

Traffic, as usual, was horrible. We couldn’t find what we needed to buy at a few different stores. Add on some wonderful teenage attitude, and I was getting quite frustrated.

Finally, as I passed up our turn and was turning around, I thought to myself, “Lord, come near to me. Help me.”

I realized that with all of the busyness of the day, I hadn’t read my Bible. I hadn’t spent much time in prayer. I hadn’t asked God to be with me, and help me.

But in that moment, I remembered James 4:8. “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

It didn’t take me speaking out loud; it didn’t take me pulling over; it didn’t take me closing my eyes.

Just a genuine cry from my heart for Him to help me and be with me, was all that was needed.

After this, a weight seemed to be lifted from me. We still had a lot to do, but I didn’t feel as stressed. I had peace and help over the situation.

Sometimes when we are struggling the most, we feel like God is far away. But it’s not because He doesn’t want to be close to us. He is always waiting for us to call on Him, and when we do, He will always come near us and help us.

If you feel like you’re drowning; if you feel like you can never get ahead; if things often seem unbearable.; You can have the same help.

Maybe you’ve never believed in God. Or maybe you believe in God, but still feel like your situation is beyond hope.

I challenge you to stop what you’re doing.

Ask God to show you His power.

Ask Him to help you.

Surrender your life to Him, and He will help you.

God always keeps His promises.

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”‭‭ Psalm‬ ‭121:1-2‬ ‭

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.”‭‭ Psalm‬ ‭145:18-19‬ ‭

Friends, you are not too broken for God to help you.

He is always waiting and hoping for you to seek Him.
