Give Me Ordinary

Give me ordinary.

I don’t want more, bigger, and better.

I want the every-day things.

Waking up early to read God’s Word and pray.

Getting my kids up for school with a kiss and a hug while they’re still half asleep.

Helping everyone get ready for their day.

Dropping them off and telling them to be kind, and have a good day.

Being able to go to work at a place I’ve been for years.

Having lunch with my friends.

Running kids to practice.

Helping with homework.

Eating dinner together.

Talking about our day.

Playing.

Watching tv.

Helping give baths.

Loving on clean babies in pjs.

Reading a bedtime story.

Saying our prayers.

Tucking in and snuggling close.

Saying, “I love you.”

Kissing foreheads just one more time.

Snuggling on the couch with my husband and a cup of coffee.

Talking about our day.

Spending time with my family.

Going to family get-togethers.

Making memories in the every day.

I don’t want more, bigger, and better.

Give me ordinary.

Because it is in the ordinary that God will make extraordinary.

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:11-12‬
