Just Breathe

Isn’t it amazing that God designed us in such a way that even our very ability to breathe is evidence of how much we need Him?

Have you ever been so overwhelmed by the weight of the world that you stopped to take some deep breaths? Maybe you slowly inhaled and exhaled, focusing on breathing alone.

But isn’t it remarkable that we don’t have to think about breathing?

We don’t have to worry about remembering to take that next breath. We can go to sleep and still breathe.

The very act of breathing, shows our reliance on a God who is unlike anyone or anything.

He created us.

He breathed life into us.

“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” Genesis‬ ‭2:7‬

Maybe you feel like you can’t go on.

Maybe you feel like you can’t do something.

Maybe you feel like you aren’t strong enough.

Take a deep breath.

Let it remind you that you really aren’t the one holding you together.

God is in control of every breath.

He is holding you even when you don’t realize it.

He is holding you even when you think you are falling apart.

When you think you can’t, remember not only that He can, but He is.

“This is what God the Lord says— the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it: ”I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand…”” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭42:5,6‬
